“Getting the right degree gave me the confidence to start Assedo Consulting. Thanks to the Clark School, I knew I had gained the tools and educational components I needed to do anything I wanted with my career.”

President and CEO, Assedo Consulting

Ms. Odessa L. Phillip (M.Eng. ’05) is the President of Assedo Consulting, a certified MBE/WBE/DBE firm that provides community outreach and technical services for infrastructure projects in the planning, design, and construction phases of development. She has more than 20 years of experience providing community outreach strategy and implementation services, transportation planning and project management services, and civil engineering design and QA/QC review to state and local agencies.

Odessa was working as a structural engineer and transportation planner for professional and technical services firm AECOM when she began working toward her Master of Engineering in Construction Project Management from the Clark School. Upon graduation, she used her new education in Project Management to aid in providing strategic guidance and leadership in highway planning and construction community outreach on the high profile InterCounty Connector (ICC) project that was under construction at that time.   She used that hands-on experience working for another small business to launch her own business in 2012.

“When looking for a graduate degree, I knew I wanted something that would allow me to build upon my technical engineering skills, as well as delve deeper into the planning and construction element of the industry in which I was already working,” says Odessa.

Odessa is a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers (ASPE) and serves as a Director-at-Large for the Baltimore chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) and on the board of the Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials’ (COMTO) Maryland chapter.
